Dr.
Fu's research interests include statistical modeling of genetic
and environmental effects on the comorbidity of substance abuse
and psychiatric disorders, with particular emphasis on latent
variable models. Dr. Fu is currently investigating genetic and
environmental risk factors for smoking behaviors and suicidality
using a large national sample of identical and fraternal twins
and their offspring derived from the Vietnam Era Twin Registry.
He is principal investigator and co-investigator on the research
projects funded by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention,
the Alzheimer's Association and the National Cancer Institute
at National Institutes of Health. He is associated with the Center
of Excellence in Cancer Communication Research (CECCR) at Saint
Louis University School of Public Health and the Midwestern Alcoholism
Research Center (MARC) at Washington University School of Medicine.
